Indications
- Treatment of insomnia
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Difficulty maintaining sleep through the night
Pharmacology
- Interacts with Gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor complexes
- Allosterically coupled to benzodiazepine receptors
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose of 2 or 3 mg for most adults
- 1 or 2 mg for persons over 65 years
- Onset of sedation may occur as rapidly as 10 minutes
- Effects may last up to six hours

- Avoid alcohol and drugs with sedating effects
