Indications

Pharmacology
- Powerful psychotropic agent
- Selective reduction of tension and anxiety
- Sedative and muscle-relaxant properties

Dosage
- Standard dosage: 1.5-3 mg up to three times daily for outpatient therapy
- Severe cases dosage: 6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily
- Elderly and debilitated patients dosage: lower doses
- Children dosage: adjusted to low bodyweight
Administration
- For oral administration
Interaction
- Enhanced sedative effects with centrally active drugs
- Prolonged elimination half-life with cimetidine co-administration
- Avoid co-administration with alcohol
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to bromazepam
- Severe respiratory insufficiency
- Severe hepatic insufficiency
- Sleep apnea syndrome

Pregnancy & Lactation

- Greater risk in predisposed patients with history of alcohol
- Withdrawal symptoms upon termination of treatment
- Not recommended for primary treatment of sleeplessness caused by psychotic illness
- Caution while driving or using machineries
