Pharmacology

Standard Dosage

1.5-3 mg up to three times daily for outpatient therapy

Severe Cases Dosage

6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily, not more than 8-12 weeks

Elderly and Debilitated Patients Dosage

Require lower doses

Children Dosage

0.1-0.3 mg/kg bodyweight

Interaction

Enhanced sedative effects if combined with other centrally active drugs; prolonged elimination half-life with cimetidine; avoid co-administration with alcohol

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to bromazepam
Severe respiratory insufficiency
Severe hepatic insufficiency
Sleep apnea syndrome
