Indications
- Emotional disturbances
- Functional disturbances in cardiovascular and respiratory systems
- Disturbances in gastrointestinal tract
- Disturbances in urinary tract
- Psychosomatic disorder
Pharmacology
Powerful psychotropic agent, selectively reduces tension and anxiety, sedative and muscle-relaxant properties, binds to GABA-A receptor
Standard dosage
1.5-3 mg up to three times daily for average outpatient therapy
Severe cases dosage
6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily, not more than 8-12 weeks
Elderly and debilitated patients dosage
Require lower doses
Children dosage
Usually not indicated, adjusted to low body weight if necessary

Interaction
- Enhanced sedative effects when combined with centrally active drugs
- Prolonged elimination half-life when co-administered with cimetidine
- Avoid concomitant intake with alcohol
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to bromazepam
- Severe respiratory insufficiency
- Severe hepatic insufficiency
- Sleep apnea syndrome

Pregnancy & Lactation
Safety not established during pregnancy, use should be avoided during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- May lead to physical and psychological dependence
- Greater risk in predisposed patients with history of alcohol
- Gradual dosage decrease recommended upon termination
- Not recommended for primary treatment of sleeplessness caused by psychotic illness
- Caution while driving or using machinery
