Description
Bromazepam tablets used for treating emotional disturbances, functional disturbances in cardiovascular and respiratory systems, gastrointestinal and urinary tract disturbances, psychosomatic disorders, and emotional reactions to chronic organic diseases.
Dosage
1.5-3 mg up to three times daily, 6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily in severe cases especially in hospital, lower doses for elderly and debilitated patients, adjusted dose for children based on body weight

Pharmacology
Reduces tension and anxiety in lower dosage, sedative and muscle-relaxant properties in higher dosage, binds to the GABA-A receptor, potentiate inhibitory effects
Interaction
Enhanced sedative effects when combined with other centrally active drugs, prolonged elimination half-life with cimetidine, intensified sedative effect with alcohol
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to bromazepam, severe respiratory insufficiency, severe hepatic insufficiency, sleep apnea syndrome
Side Effects
Fatigue, drowsiness, muscle weakness, reduced alertness, confusion, headache, ataxia, anterograde amnesia at therapeutic doses, potential physical and psychological dependence, withdrawal symptoms upon termination, caution with driving or using machinery
