DosageAndAdministration
Usually 2 tablets orally daily in the morning and noon for adults. 1 tablet in the morning for elderly patients.

Interaction
May enhance the response to alcohol, barbiturates and other CNS depressants.
Contraindications
- Immediate recovery phase after myocardial infarction
- Defects in bundle-branch conduction
- Untreated narrow-angle glaucoma
- Acute alcohol, barbiturate and opiate intoxications
SideEffects
- Rare in recommended doses
- Transient restlessness
- Insomnia

Preferably not to be given during pregnancy and lactation.
PrecautionsAndWarnings
Withdraw tranquillizers with sedative effect gradually if the patient has been treated previously.
OverdoseEffects
Intoxications by melitracen, especially of anticholinergic nature, dominate. Symptomatic and supportive treatment required.
