Contraindications

  • Immediate recovery phase after myocardial infarction: Should not be given

  • Untreated narrow angle glaucoma: Should not be given
  • Acute alcohol barbiturate and opiate intoxications: Should not be given
  • Patients taking MAO inhibitor within two weeks: Should not be given
  • Not recommended for excitable or overactive patients: Due to activating effect

Overdose effects

  • Dominant symptoms:

      • Intoxications, especially of anticholinergic nature
    • Flupentixol: Extrapyramidal symptoms

    • Symptomatic and supportive care
    • Gastric lavage
    • Activated charcoal
    • Respiratory and cardiovascular support
    • Avoidance of epinephrine
    • Treatment for convulsions and extrapyramidal symptoms
