Indications
- Treatment of schizophrenia

Dosage
- Initial dose of 5-10 mg once daily
- Maximum dosage of 20 mg daily
Administration
- Can be given without regard to meals
- Gradual tapering of the dose should be considered while discontinuing
Interaction
- Antagonizes effects of levodopa and dopamine agonists
- Inducers and inhibitors of CYP1A2
- Increased clearance with carbamazepine
- Reduced oral bioavailability with activated charcoal
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any ingredient
- Known risk for narrow-angle glaucoma

- Use in special populations such as children, elderly, and patients with hepatic or renal impairment
Use in Special Populations
- Not studied in subjects under 18 years of age
- Starting dose for elderly patients (age 65 and over) is 5 mg/day
- Starting dose for patients with hepatic or renal impairment is 5 mg/day
