Indications

Pharmacology
- Tricyclic antidepressant
- Dibenzazepine group of compounds
- Inhibits the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT)
- Influences obsessive and compulsive behaviors
Dosage
- Initial dose: 25 mg at bedtime
- Gradual increase up to 150 mg per day in adults
- Dose can be divided to reduce gastrointestinal disturbances
- Not recommended for children
Administration
- Swallow capsules whole with water
- Continue medication until instructed to stop
- May take up to 4 weeks to work
Interaction
- Interacts with medicines for depression
- May have interactions with MAOIs, SSRIs, SNaRIs, tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, diuretics, anaesthetics, blood pressure lowering agents, anti-coagulants
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Clomipramine Hydrochloride
- Hypersensitivity to other tricyclic antidepressants
- Acute recovery phase following a myocardial infarction
- Use not recommended with MAO inhibitors within 14 days
