Description
- Nodepress is indicated for the treatment of depressive illness, bulimia nervosa, and obsessive compulsive disorder. It selectively inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, leading to enhanced serotonergic neurotransmission and functional changes in the central nervous system. The initial recommended dose is 20 mg/day, with a maximum dose of 80 mg/day. It is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to it and should not be used with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, neurological symptoms, and skin rashes. Caution is advised in pregnancy and lactation, hepatic or renal impairment, epilepsy, and diabetes.

Pharmacology

Dosage and Administration
- Initial dose of 20 mg/day
- Maximum dose of 80 mg/day
- Maintenance dose of 60 mg/day for bulimia nervosa
- Lower dosage for patients with renal and/or hepatic impairment
- Lower dosage for elderly patients
- Not recommended for use in children

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fluoxetine Hydrochloride
- Concomitant use with MAOIs or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI therapy
