Pharmacology
- piperazine-derivative antihistamine
- antiemetic
- anticholinergic properties
- antihistaminic properties
- reduces sensitivity of the labyrinthine apparatus
- medication action pathway
- enhanced with vitamin B-6
Dosage & Administration
- 25-50 mg daily for adults and children 12 years & over for nausea and vomiting
- 25-50 mg 1 hour prior to travel for motion sickness
- 50 mg 2-12 hours prior to radiation treatment for radiation sickness
- 25-100 mg daily in divided doses for vertigo
- 25-50 mg 1 hour before first emergency contraceptive pill dose
Interaction
- potentiated by Ethanol or other CNS depressant agents
- potentiated by Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Tricyclic antidepressants, opiate agonists, skeletal muscle relaxants
- potentiated by antihistamines
- increased digoxin absorption
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to Meclizine Hydrochloride
- hypersensitivity to Pyridoxine Hydrochloride

Precautions & Warnings
- may impair mental alertness

Overdose Effects
- symptoms: extreme excitability, seizures, drowsiness, hallucinations
- treatment: supportive and symptomatic treatment, consider dialysis
