Pharmacology
Dopamine & histamine antagonist with antiemetic activity and weak anticholinergic effect
Dosage & Administration
- Antiemetic:
- Children dosage based on weight
- Adult dosage: 5-10 mg 3-4 times/day
- Antipsychotic:
- Children dosage: 2.5 mg 2-3 times/day
- Adult dosage: 5-10 mg 3-4 times/day
- Nonpsychotic anxiety:
- Adult dosage: 15-20 mg/day in divided doses
- Elderly dosage: Initial 2.5-5 mg 1-2 times/day
Interaction
- CNS depressant action with alcohol and sedatives
- Interference with absorption of certain drugs
