Description
- Histamine analog
- Improves circulation in the inner ear

Pharmacology
- Acts as histamine H1-receptor agonist
- Vasodilatory effect on blood vessels
- Reduction in endolymphatic pressure
- Increases vestibulocochlear blood flow
- Elevates levels of neurotransmitters including serotonin
Dosage & Administration
- Initial oral treatment 8-16mg three times daily
- Maintenance doses 24-48mg daily
- Preferred with meals
- Adjustable dosage for individual patient needs
- Improvement observed after a couple of weeks of treatment
Interactions
- No proven hazardous interactions
- Potential interactions with ethanol, pyrimethamine with dapsone, salbutamol, and H1 antagonists
Contraindications
- Patients with phaeochromocytoma
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance
