Description

  • Indications:
    • Relief of symptoms in adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis
    • Treatment for gastroesophageal reflux in adults who fail to respond to conventional therapy
    • Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with emetogenic cancer chemotherapy
    • Facilitate small bowel intubation in adults and pediatric patients
    • Stimulate gastric emptying for radiological examination
  • Pharmacology: Blocks dopamine and serotonin receptors, enhances acetylcholine response in upper GI tract, increases lower esophageal sphincter tone
  • Dosage & Administration:
    • Metoclopramide Spray:
      • Recommended dosage for adults under 65 years
      • Recommended dosage for adults 65 years and older
    • Metoclopramide Tablet:
      • Administer for Gastroesophageal Reflux
      • Administer for Acute and Recurrent Diabetic Gastroparesis
    • Metoclopramide Injection:
      • Relief of Symptoms Associated with Diabetic Gastroparesis

  • Contraindications:
    • History of tardive dyskinesia or dystonic reaction to metoclopramide
    • Stimulation of gastrointestinal motility in dangerous conditions
    • Presence of pheochromocytoma or other catecholamine-releasing paragangliomas
    • Patients with epilepsy
    • Hypersensitivity to metoclopramide
