Description

  • Orally dissolving film designed to be applied on top of the tongue

Dosage

Mode of Action

  • Selective blocking agent of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor type
  • Blocks 5HT3 receptors located in peripheral and central nervous system

Administration

  • Designed to be dissolved on top of the tongue
  • Does not require water for dissolution or swallowing

Interactions

  • Metabolized by hepatic cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzymes
  • May interact with inducers or inhibitors of these enzymes

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or any components
  • Concomitant use of apomorphine

Side Effects

  • Reported adverse events include headache, constipation, diarrhea, and rash
  • Rare cases of anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, tachycardia, and hypokalemia reported

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Requires caution when administered to nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

  • Hypersensitivity reactions reported in patients with hypersensitivity to other 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
  • Should not be used instead of nasogastric suction
  • May mask a progressive ileus and/or gastric distension

Use in Special Populations

  • Same dosage recommendation for patients with impaired renal function
  • Specific dosage recommendation for patients with severe hepatic impairment
  • Limited information on dosage for pediatric patients 4 years of age or younger
