Indications
- Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with emetogenic cancer chemotherapy

Description
- Oral soluble film designed to be applied on top of the tongue and dissolve within 20 seconds
- Active ingredient: Onaseron base, a selective blocking agent of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor type
Pharmacology
- Potent and highly selective 5HT3 receptor-antagonist
- Blocks initiation of vomiting reflex by activating vagal afferents via 5HT3 receptors
Dosage
- Different doses for adults, pediatric patients for Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting, Radiotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting, Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting

Interaction
- Metabolized by hepatic cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzymes
- No dosage adjustment recommended for patients on certain drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
- Concomitant use with apomorphine
Side Effects
- Frequently reported adverse events: headache, constipation, diarrhea
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, tachycardia, chest pain, hypokalemia, shortness of breath
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus in animal studies
- Excreted in the breast milk of rats
Precautions & Warnings
- Hypersensitivity reactions reported in patients with hypersensitivity to other 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
- Should not be used instead of nasogastric suction
Use in Special Populations
- Dosage adjustments for patients with impaired renal function and hepatic function
- Little information available about dosage for pediatric patients 4 years of age or younger
