Indications
- Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy

Description
- Orally dissolving film designed to be applied on top of the tongue
- Dissolves within 20 seconds

Pharmacology
- Potent, highly selective 5HT3 receptor-antagonist
- Precise mode of action in the control of nausea and vomiting is not known
Dosage
- Various dosing options for adults, pediatric patients, geriatric patients, and based on different types of nausea and vomiting
Administration
- Steps to administer the oral soluble film
- No need for water to aid dissolution or swallowing
Interaction
- Does not induce or inhibit the cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzyme system
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients known to have hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
Side Effects
- Reported adverse events such as headache, constipation, diarrhea, rash, sensation of flushing or warmth, hiccups, liver enzyme abnormalities, anaphylaxis, brochospasm, tachycardia, angina, hypokalemia, shortness of breath
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus in animal studies
- Excreted in the breast milk of rats
Precautions & Warnings
- Hypersensitivity reactions reported in patients previously hypersensitive to other selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
- Should not be used in place of nasogastric suction
Use in Special Populations
- Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired renal function
- Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired hepatic function
- Limited information available about dosage in pediatric patients 4 years of age or younger
- No dosage adjustment needed in patients over the age of 65
