Dosage Administration

  • Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting:
    • Adults and pediatric patients (6 months to 18 years)
    • Pediatrics (>40 kg)
    • Pediatrics (4-11 years)
    • Adults/Geriatric/Child of 12 years or over
  • Radiotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting:
    • Adults
    • Pediatrics (>40 kg)
    • Pediatrics (40 kg)
  • Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting:
    • Adults
    • Pediatrics (>40 kg)
    • Pediatrics (40 kg)

Administration Instructions

  • Tear the pouch carefully along the edge tear mark
  • Place the film on top of the tongue
  • Do not chew or swallow the film whole
  • Swallow after the film dissolves
  • Wash hands after administration

Drug Interaction

Metabolized by hepatic cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzymes

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
  • Concomitant use of apomorphine

Pregnancy & Lactation

No evidence of harm to the fetus due to Ondansetron, caution in nursing women

Precautions

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Not a stimulant of gastric or intestinal peristalsis
  • Should not be used instead of nasogastric suction

Special Populations

  • Renal Function: Same dosage recommendation as for general population
  • Hepatic Function: Single maximal daily dose of 8 mg is recommended for severe hepatic impairment
  • Pediatric Patients: Little information available for dosage in patients 4 years of age or younger
  • Elderly Patients: No dosage adjustment needed for patients over the age of 65
