Description
- Zofra ODT oral soluble film
- Orally dissolving film
- Applied on top of the tongue
- Dissolves within 20 seconds
- Swallowed with saliva
- Does not require water for dissolution or swallowing
- Active ingredient: Zofra ODT base (the racemic form of Zofra ODT)
Mode of Action
- Potent, highly selective 5HT3 receptor-antagonist
- Precise mode of action not fully known
- Blocks initiation of vomiting reflex

- Adult dosage for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
- Concomitant use of apomorphine
Side Effects
- Frequently reported adverse events
- Mild or moderate adverse events
- Occurrence of rash, sensation of flushing, hiccups, and liver enzyme abnormalities
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis, brochospasm, tachycardia, angina, hypokalemia, shortness of breath
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No evidence of carcinogenic effects in animal studies
- Not mutagenic in standard tests
- No effect on fertility or general reproduction performance in rats
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Excreted in the breast milk of rats
Precautions & Warnings
- Reported hypersensitivity reactions
- Not a drug that stimulates gastric or intestinal peristalsis
- Caution in postoperative and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
Use in Special Populations
- Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired renal function
- Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired hepatic function
- Limited information about dosage for pediatric patients 4 years of age or younger
