Indications

• Acute and delayed nausea and vomiting
• Uncontrolled nausea and vomiting
• Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV)
• Radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (RINV)
• Post-operative & Post-discharge nausea and vomiting (PONV & PDNV)

Pharmacology

• 5-HT3 receptor antagonist
• Binding affinity for 5-HT3 receptor
• Little or no affinity for other receptors
• Inhibition of serotonin actions
• Metabolism via kidney and liver
• Excretion as unchanged drug in urine
• Longer half-life

Dosage & Administration

• Usual dosage of 0.5 mg daily for adults
• IV dosage of 0.075 mg over 10 seconds for adults
• Tablet/IV dosage for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
• IV dosage for radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
• IV dosage for post-operative nausea and vomiting
• IV dosage for children (1 month to 17 years)

Interaction

• Safe administration with corticosteroids
• No inhibition of antitumor activity
• No significant pharmacokinetic interactions
• Low potential for clinically significant drug interactions

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the drug or its components
