Indications

  • Acute and delayed nausea and vomiting
  • Uncontrolled nausea and vomiting
  • Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV)
  • Radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (RINV)
  • Post-operative & Post-discharge nausea and vomiting (PONV & PDNV)

Pharmacology

  • 5-HT3 receptor antagonist
  • Binding affinity for the 5-HT3 receptor
  • Little or no affinity for other receptors
  • Mechanism against chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
  • Influence on postoperative nausea and vomiting
  • Pharmacokinetics characteristics

Dosage and administration

  • Usual adult tablet dosage: 0.5 mg daily
  • Usual adult IV dosage: 0.075 mg administered over 10 seconds
  • Specific dosages for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
  • Specific dosage for radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
  • Specific dosage for post-operative nausea and vomiting
  • Children dosage: IV dose at 20 mcg/kg body weight

Interaction

  • Safe administration with certain medications
  • No significant pharmacokinetic interactions with metoclopramide
  • Inhibition of antitumor activity
  • Low potential for drug interactions

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
