Indications
- Treatment of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia
- Treatment of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (petit mal variant)
- Adjunct in the treatment of akinetic and myoclonic seizures
- Treatment of absence seizures (petit mal) in patients who have failed to respond to succinimides

Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose for adults with seizure disorders: not to exceed 1.5 mg/day divided into three doses
- Initial dose for adults with panic disorder: 0.25 mg given in two divided doses
- Pediatric dose for infants and children: 0.01-0.03 mg/kg/day divided into two or three doses
- Maximum recommended daily dose: 20 mg
Interaction
- No alteration of the pharmacokinetics of phenytoin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital observed
- Effect on the metabolism of other drugs has not been investigated
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
- Clinical or biochemical evidence of significant liver disease
- Acute narrow angle glaucoma

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings
- May increase the incidence of generalized tonic-clonic seizures in certain patients
Use in Special Populations
- Caution required in pediatric use due to increased salivation and bronchial secretion
- Benzodiazepine pharmacologic effects appear to be greater in elderly patients
- Renal impairment does not affect the pharmacokinetics
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms: drowsiness, ataxia, dysarthria, nystagmus
- May lead to areflexia, apnoea, hypotension, cardiorespiratory depression, and coma
- Increased frequency of seizures at supratherapeutic plasma concentrations
