Composition

  • Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP (Al2O3 47%, minimum): 250 mg
  • Magnesium Hydroxide BP: 400 mg
  • Aluminium Oxide (Equivalent amount of Aluminium Hydroxide Gel USP): 175 mg
  • Magnesium Hydroxide (Equivalent amount of Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP): 225 mg

Pharmacology

  • Well-balanced combination of essential non-systemic antacids
  • Dependable antacid preparations without acid rebound, constipating or cathartic effects
  • High neutralizing power of aluminium hydroxide gel
  • Slow but sustained acid neutralizing property of magnesium hydroxide
  • Adsorbent property for protecting coating over the ulcer surface
  • Facilitating healing of the sensitive mucosa of stomach and duodenum

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet: Two tablets 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime or as directed by the physician
  • Suspension: 2 teaspoonful 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime or as directed by the physician

Interaction

  • Inhibition of absorption of certain drugs by Renocid

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in hypophosphataemia
  • Contraindicated in alkalosis and hypermagnesaemia where abdominal distention may be due to partial or complete intestinal obstruction

Side Effects

  • Alkaluria with long-term use leading to potential nephrolithiasis

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Advice to avoid antacid preparations in the first trimester of pregnancy

Precautions & Warnings

  • Reduction of tetracycline absorption when used concomitantly with antacids
