Indications
- Treatment of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia
- Adjunct in the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, akinetic and myoclonic seizures
- Treatment of absence seizures (petit mal) when other treatments have failed
Mode of Action
- Exhibits anticonvulsive, sedative, muscle relaxing, and anxiolytic effects
- Enhances GABAergic neurotransmission
- Suppresses various types of paroxysmal activity including certain types of seizures
Dosage and Administration
- Initial and maintenance doses for adults and pediatric patients with seizure disorders
- Initial dose for adults with panic disorder
- Dosage for infants and children with seizures
- Recommended dosage for injection in infants, children, and adults
Interaction
- Does not alter the pharmacokinetics of phenytoin, carbamazepine, or phenobarbital
- Effect on the metabolism of other drugs has not been investigated
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines
- Clinical or biochemical evidence of significant liver disease
- Acute narrow angle glaucoma
Side Effects
- CNS depression such as drowsiness and ataxia
- Behavioral problems, abnormal eye movements, coma, tremor, confusion, etc.
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Potential risk of congenital malformations
- Caution and clinical evaluation required during pregnancy

Precautions and Warnings
- Increased incidence of generalized tonic-clonic seizures in certain patients
