Description

Clonapex 1 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, and as an adjunct in the treatment of the Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (petit mal variant), akinetic and myoclonic seizures.

DosageAndAdministration

  • Oral:
    • Adults: Initial dose should not exceed 1.5 mg/day divided into three doses. Maximum recommended daily dose is 20 mg.
    • PediatricPatients: Initial dose for infants and children should not exceed 0.05 mg/kg/day.
  • Injection:
    • InfantsAndChildren: Half of a vial (0.5 mg) by slow IV injection or by IV infusion.
    • Adults: 1 vial (1 mg) by slow IV injection or by IV infusion.

Interaction

  • Does not alter the pharmacokinetics of phenytoin, carbamazepine or phenobarbital.

  • Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines

  • Acute narrow angle glaucoma

  • GeriatricUse: Benzodiazepine pharmacologic effects appear to be greater in elderly patients
  • RenalImpairment: Does not affect the pharmacokinetics of Clonapex
  • HepaticImpairment: Plasma protein binding of Clonapex in cirrhotic patients is significantly different from that in healthy subjects

  • Symptoms: Drowsiness, ataxia, dysarthria, nystagmus
  • Treatment: Monitor vital signs, symptomatic treatment for cardiorespiratory effects or central nervous system effects
