Indications

  • Symptomatic relief of hyperacidity
  • Prevention of stress ulceration and GI bleeding
  • Antiflatulent for gas alleviation
  • Relieves acid pain and disperses gastric foam
  • Effective in heartburn and sour stomach

Composition

  • Tablet:
    • Dried Aluminium Hydroxide Gel BP (Al2O3, 47% minimum): 425.53 mg
    • Magnesium Hydroxide BP: 400 mg
    • Simethicone USP: 30 mg
  • 5 ml Suspension:
    • Aluminium Oxide (Equivalent amount of Aluminium Hydroxide Gel USP): 200 mg
    • Magnesium Hydroxide (Equivalent amount of Magnesium Hydroxide Paste USP): 400 mg
    • Simethicone USP: 30 mg

Pharmacology

  • Non-systemic acid neutralizing substances
  • Antiflatulent with long action
  • Relief of ulcers by neutralizing gastric acid
  • Antifoaming properties of Simethicone
  • Physiologically inert and excreted unchanged in feces

Dosage & Administration

  • 1-2 tablets 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime
  • 1-2 teaspoonful suspension 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime

Interaction

  • May affect absorption of oral drugs
  • Decrease bioavailability of certain drugs
  • Increase bioavailability of some drugs

Contraindications

  • Renal failure or hypophosphataemia
  • Severely debilitated patients
  • Alkalosis and hypermagnesaemia
  • Partial or complete intestinal obstruction

Side Effects

  • Uncommon gastrointestinal side effects
  • Possible: diarrhea, constipation, regurgitation

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Avoid in first trimester of pregnancy

  • Use with caution in patients with kidney disease
