Pharmacology
- Non-systemic acid neutralizing substances
- Antiflatulent
- Relief of ulcer by neutralizing gastric acid
- Antifoam properties of simethicone
- Physiologically inert
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet dosage: 1-2 tablets 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime
- Suspension dosage: 1-2 teaspoonful 1-3 hours after meal and at bedtime
Interaction
- May affect absorption of concomitantly administered oral drugs
- Increase or decrease bioavailability of certain drugs
Contraindications
- Patients with renal failure
- Hypophosphataemia
- Severely debilitated patients
- Alkalosis
- Hypermagnesaemia
Side Effects
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Regurgitation (with excessive consumption)
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid in first trimester of pregnancy
