Indications
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
- Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)
- Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures

Pharmacology
Pregabalin is a structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues.
Dosage
- Maximum recommended dose of Pregabalin for DPN is 100 mg three times a day
- Recommended dose of Pregabalin for PHN is 75 to 150 mg two times a day or 50 to 100 mg three times a day
- Recommended dose of Pregabalin for fibromyalgia is 300 to 450 mg/day
- Recommended dose range of Pregabalin for spinal cord injury is 150 to 600 mg/day
Administration
- Route of administration is oral
- Pregabalin CR tablet should be administered after an evening meal
- Gradual tapering of Pregabalin is recommended upon discontinuation
Interaction
Nerfid is unlikely to be involved in significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions and has no significant interaction with food and others
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components
Side Effects
Common side effects include dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, edema, blurred vision, weight gain, and thinking abnormalities
Pregnancy & Lactation
No adequate and well-controlled studies with pregabalin in pregnant women. Small amounts of pregabalin have been detected in the milk of lactating women
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue immediately in case of angioedema or hypersensitivity reactions
- Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
- Should be withdrawn gradually over a minimum of 1 week
- May cause peripheral edema
Use in Special Populations
Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established for certain conditions
Overdose Effects
Signs and symptoms of overdose include reduced consciousness, depression/anxiety, and seizures
