Indications
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)
- Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)
- Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older
- Fibromyalgia
- Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury
Pharmacology
Pregabalin is a structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues.
Dosage
- Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in adults (DPN): 50-300 mg/day based on individual patient response and tolerability
- Postherpetic neuralgia in adults (PHN): 75-600 mg/day based on individual patient response and tolerability
- Management of fibromyalgia in adults: 300-450 mg/day
- Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury in adults: 150-600 mg/day
Administration
- Route of administration: Oral, with or without food
- Pregabalin CR tablet administration: After an evening meal, swallowed whole, should not be split, crushed or chewed
Interactions
Nervalin is unlikely to be involved in significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions. No significant drug interaction with food and others.
Contraindications
Pregabalin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components.

Pregnancy & Lactation
No adequate and well-controlled studies with pregabalin in pregnant women. Small amounts of pregabalin detected in the milk of lactating women. Breastfeeding is not recommended.
Precautions & Warnings
- Angioedema
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
- Respiratory depression
- Dizziness and somnolence
- Peripheral edema
- Caution when coadministering with thiazolidinedione antidiabetic agents
Use in Special Populations
Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established for certain conditions.
Overdose Effects
Signs and symptoms include reduced consciousness, depression/anxiety, seizures, heart block. No specific antidote available.
