  • Adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients 1 month of age and older

  • Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury

Mode of Action

  • Inhibitory neurotransmitter
  • Binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues

Maximum Recommended Daily Dose

  • Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy in adults (DPN): 300 mg/day
  • Postherpetic neuralgia in adults (PHN): 300 mg/day
  • Management of fibromyalgia in adults: 450 mg/day
  • Neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury in adults: 600 mg/day

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy: No adequate and well-controlled studies with pregabalin in pregnant women
  • Lactation: Small amounts of pregabalin have been detected in the milk of lactating women. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with pregabalin

Precautions & Warnings

  • Angioedema can occur and may be associated with life-threatening respiratory compromise requiring emergency treatment
  • Antiepileptic drugs, including Gaba-Aid, increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior
  • Respiratory depression may occur with Gaba-Aid when used with concomitant CNS depressants or in the setting of underlying respiratory impairment
  • Increased seizure frequency or other adverse reactions may occur if Gaba-Aid is rapidly discontinued
  • Gaba-Aid may cause dizziness and somnolence and impair patients ability to drive or operate machinery
  • Gaba-Aid may cause peripheral edema
  • Caution should be exercised when coadministering Gaba-Aid and thiazolidinedione antidiabetic agents

Use in Special Populations

  • Use in Children and Adolescents: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established for multiple indications
