Indications
- Treatment of epilepsy

- Sodium Valproate tablet - 200 mg
- Sodium Valproate syrup - 200 mg/5ml
- Sodium Valproate controlled release 200 tablet - 200 mg

- Sodium Valproate injection - 500 mg/5ml
Pharmacology
- Anti-epileptic activity
- Increase brain levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Initial adult dosage: 600 mg daily
- Maximum adult dosage: 2.5 g daily
- Injection dosage for adults: 400-800 mg
- Injection dosage for children: 20-30 mg/kg/day
- Maximum injection dosage for children: 40 mg/kg/day
Interaction
- Non-specific inhibitor of drug metabolism
- Significant interaction with Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Warfarin, Aspirin
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
- Liver dysfunction
- Restricted use during pregnancy and in women of childbearing potential
