Indications

  • Reduces blood sugar levels
  • Used in type 2 diabetes Mellitus in adults
  • When diet, exercise, and weight loss alone are not effective

Pharmacology

  • Gliclazide is a second generation sulfonylurea drug
  • Stimulates insulin release from pancreatic cells
  • Decreases hepatic glucose output

Dosage & Administration

  • Usual initial dose is 40 to 80 mg daily
  • Dose can be increased up to 320 mg daily
  • Must be taken before meal

  • Film-coated tablet
