Indications
- Adjunct to diet and exercise for lowering blood glucose in type II diabetes mellitus
- Concomitant use with metformin
- Combination use with insulin for lowering blood glucose
- Potential for increasing the potential for hypoglycaemia
Pharmacology
- Sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent
- Decreases blood glucose concentration
- Stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells

- Increases peripheral tissue sensitivity to insulin

Dosage
- Dosage based on desired blood sugar level

- Usual initial dose of 1 mg once daily
- Usual dose range in well-controlled diabetes is 1 to 4 mg daily
