Eromycin 3% (Lotion)

Indications

• Topical treatment of acne
• Treatment of pimples
• Treatment of bacterial skin infections susceptible to Erythromycin

Pharmacology

• Bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotic
• Potentially bactericidal in high concentrations
• Mechanism of action in reducing inflammatory lesions of acne vulgaris is unknown

Dosage & Administration

• Apply in morning and evening
• Thoroughly wash affected areas before applying
• Apply with fingertips or applicator
• Wash hands after use
• Spread the medication lightly rather than rubbing it in
• Additional containers may be used if needed
• Each container should be used once and discarded

• Interaction with Clindamycin

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Erythromycin or any of the other ingredients

Side Effects

• Erythema
• Desquamation
• Burning sensation
• Eye irritation
• Tenderness
• Dryness
• Oily skin

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Safety for use during pregnancy not established
• Use only when potential benefits outweigh potential hazards to the fetus
• Excreted in breast milk
• Caution when administering to a nursing mother

Precautions & Warnings

• For external use only
• Keep away from eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membrane
• Possible bacterial or fungal overgrowth with prolonged or repeated therapy
• Take appropriate measures if superinfections occur

Use in Special Populations

• Safety and effectiveness in children less than 12 years not established
