Indications

  • Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Management of overweight patients with inadequate glycaemic control
  • First-line therapy after diet failure

Pharmacology

  • Biguanide type oral antihyperglycemic drug
  • Lowers basal and postprandial plasma glucose
  • Different mechanism of action from sulfonylureas
  • Does not produce hypoglycemia

Dosage & Administration
