Indications
- Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children from 10 years of age and adolescents
Pharmacology
- Biguanide type oral antihyperglycemic drug
- Lowers both basal and postprandial plasma glucose
- Decreases hepatic glucose production
- Improves insulin sensitivity
Dosage Administration
- Usual starting dose of 500 mg
- Maximum daily dose of 2550 mg for adults
- Usual starting dose of 500 mg for children
- Maximum daily dose of 2000 mg for children
- Dosage adjustments based on renal function
- Swallow extended release tablet whole

- Potential interactions with Furosemide and Nifedipine
