Dosage
Linagliptin 5 mg once daily
Usage
Improves glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Indications
- As monotherapy for inadequately controlled patients
- As combination therapy with metformin or sulphonylurea
Pharmacology
Inhibits DPP-4 enzyme, increases active incretin hormones, stimulates insulin release, and decreases glucagon secretion
Interaction
Weak competitive and weak to moderate mechanism-based inhibitor of CYP3A4 isozyme
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
Side Effects
- Hypoglycemia
- Nasopharyngitis
- Cough
- Pancreatitis in combination with metformin and sulfonylurea
