Indications

• Adjunct to diet and exercise for type 2 diabetes mellitus

Pharmacology

• DPP-4 inhibitor
• Affects incretin hormone levels
• Regulates glucose homeostasis

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose: 50mg twice a day or 100mg once daily
• Can be taken with or without food

Interaction

• No significant alteration of other drug pharmacokinetics by Incrit
• Slight increase in mean Digoxin concentration

Contraindications

• History of serious hypersensitivity reaction to sitagliptin

Side Effects

• Common adverse reactions: headache, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category B
• Excretion in milk of lactating rats at 4:1 ratio
• Caution in nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Prompt discontinuation if pancreatitis is suspected
• Dosage adjustment in renal insufficiency
• Risk of hypersensitivity reactions

• Single doses of up to 800mg administered in clinical trials
• Usual supportive measures for overdose
