Description
- Ambrosol Cough Syrup is indicated for productive cough, acute and chronic inflammatory disorders of upper and lower respiratory tracts, inflammatory diseases of the rhinopharyngeal tract, asthmatic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, chronic pneumonia, and more. It possesses bronchosecretolytic effect, improves sputum rheology, hydrates mucus, stimulates surfactant production, and reduces bronchial hyperactivity. It has anti-inflammatory properties and improves airway patency in patients with COPD. The average daily dosage varies for pediatric drops, syrup, and sustained-release capsules. It should not be taken simultaneously with antitussives like codeine and is contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or Bromhexine. Possible side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort and rare allergic responses. It is advised not to use during the 1st trimester of pregnancy and safety during lactation has not been established. Precautions should be taken for patients with gastric and duodenal ulceration, convulsive disorders, hepatic and renal insufficiency.
