Dosage & Administration
- Once daily
- No regard to meals
- Individualized therapy
- Pioglitazone monotherapy initiation at 15 mg or 30 mg
- Maximum recommended daily dose of 45 mg
Interaction
- Thiazolidinediones with oral contraceptive
- Reduces plasma concentration of ethinyl oestradiol and norethindrone
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any components

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if benefit justifies risk to foetus
- Not known whether Pioglitazone is secreted in human milk
- Not recommended for lactating women
Precautions & Warnings
- Should not be used in Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Caution in combination antidiabetic therapy and hepatic insufficiency
- Liver enzyme monitoring
