Indications
- Adjunct to diet and exercises
- Improves glycaemic control
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus treatment
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of DPP-4 enzyme
- Increase in insulin secretion
- Decrease in glucagon secretion
- Decrease in hepatic glucose production
Dosage & Administration
- Twice daily dosage
- Recommended initiation based on current Metformin dose
- Administration with or just after food
Interaction
- Low potential for drug interactions
- No clinically relevant interactions with other oral antidiabetics
- Potential interactions with furosemide, nifedipine, and glyburide
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Vildagliptin or Metformin Hydrochloride
- Renal disease or renal dysfunction
- Acute myocardial infarction and septicaemia
- Congestive heart failure

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Unknown excretion in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Possible occurrence of lactic acidosis due to Metformin accumulation

- Caution in elderly patients and patients with renal or hepatic impairment
