Indications
- Severe allergic conditions in asthma, dermatitis, rhinitis, etc.
- Collagen diseases like lupus erythematosus
- Bullous dermatitis, erythema multiforme, etc.
- Primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency
- Gastrointestinal diseases like ulcerative colitis
- Leukemias and lymphomas

- Ocular inflammatory conditions
- To induce diuresis or remission of proteinuria
- Treatment for rheumatic disorders
- Diagnostic testing of adrenocortical hyperfunction
Pharmacology
- Synthetic glucocorticoid
