Indications
- Primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency

Pharmacology
Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, reduces vasoactive agents, controls protein synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dosage varies from 20 mg to 240 mg per day
- Dosage requirements are variable and must be individualized
- Monitoring of drug dosage is necessary
- Injection dosage varies for adults and children
Interaction
Drugs that induce hepatic enzymes may increase clearance, while others may inhibit metabolism
Contraindications
Contraindicated in severe systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to any component
