Ovestin 0.1% (Vaginal Cream)

Indications

• Relieves painful sexual intercourse
• Treats estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women

Pharmacology

• Contains estriol (an estrogen)
• Normalizes vaginal epithelium and microflora
• Short-acting compared to other estrogens
• Used in treatment of urogenital symptoms

Dosage

• Each dose contains 0.5 mg estriol
• Initial use once daily for 3 weeks, then twice a week
• Pre-surgery use: Once daily for 2 weeks

Administration

• Specific instructions for applying the cream
• Includes steps for filling and using the applicator
• Recommended usage before rest or sleep
• Caution for missed doses

Interaction

• Potential interaction with anticoagulants, corticosteroids, theophyllines, and more
