Indications
- Treatment of secondary amenorrhea
- Treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding
- Reduction of endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women
Pharmacology
- Transforms proliferative into secretory endometrium
- Androgenic and anabolic effects
- Inhibits gonadotropin production
- Devoid of significant estrogenic activity
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage of 5 or 10 mg daily for 5 to 10 days
- Dose for inducing secretory transformation of endometrium
- Therapy for abnormal uterine bleeding
- Reduction of endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women
- Starting dose at the lowest level
Contraindications
- Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding
- History of breast cancer
- Known or suspected estrogen- or progesterone-dependent neoplasia
- Active DVT, PE, or arterial thromboembolic disease
- Anaphylactic reaction to Medroxyprogesterone Acetate
- Liver impairment or disease
- Known or suspected pregnancy

- Addition of a progestin for estrogen administration
- Monitoring of abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Regular blood pressure monitoring
