Description
- Fermid is indicated in the treatment of anovulation or oligo-ovulation in patients desiring pregnancy
- Clomiphene has mainly antiestrogenic effects and some estrogenic effects
- Fermid should be kept below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture
Dosage and Administration
- 50 mg daily for 5 days for females, starting any day from second to fifth day of the menstrual cycle
- 25 mg once daily up to 90 days for males
- A loading dose of 250 mg-1 g administered prior to dialysis for patients undergoing haemodialysis
Indications
- Treatment of anovulation or oligo-ovulation in females desiring pregnancy
- Treatment of infertility in males with oligospermia and poor sperm motility
Pharmacology
- Stimulates ovulation by competing with estrogen for binding sites at the hypothalamic level
- Increases secretion of FSH and LH resulting in ovarian follicle maturation
