Indications
- Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

Pharmacology
- Selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor
- Increases cGMP in smooth muscle cells
- Causes smooth muscle relaxation
- Increases blood flow into the corpus cavernosum
- Present in smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder wall
- Improves blood flow to the urinary tract
- Widens the opening of the bladder neck
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended starting dose for ED: 10 mg
- Maximum dosing frequency: once daily
- Effective for up to 36 hours
- Recommended dose for BPH: 5 mg daily
- Recommended dose for combined ED and BPH: 5 mg daily
Interaction
- May interact with Nitrates, Alpha adrenergic blockers, Antihypertensives, Alcohol, Antacids, Ketoconazole, Ritonavir, Erythromycin, Itraconazole, Grapefruit juice, other HIV protease inhibitors, Rifampin, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin & Phenobarbital
