Indications

Treatment of mild to moderately severe bacterial infections
Infections of the ear, nose, and throat regions
Infections of the lower respiratory tract
Infections due to beta-hemolytic streptococci

Pharmacology

Absorption from the upper part of the small intestine
Best absorption with potassium salt
Convenient means of treating Gram-positive infections

Dosage

Dosage determination based on sensitivity of micro-organism
Dosage adjustments based on clinical response
Adult dosage: 250-500 mg 6 hourly
Children dosage: 125-250 mg 6 hourly
Infants dosage: 62.5-125 mg 6 hourly

Administration

Best taken on an empty stomach
Tablets to be swallowed without chewing
Syrup to be shaken vigorously before use

Reduced absorption with concurrent food intake
