Indications
- Treatment of bacterial infections in ear, nose, and throat regions
- Treatment of infections in lower respiratory tract

Pharmacology
- Absorption from upper part of small intestine
- Best absorption with potassium salt form
- Administration with meals
- Resistance to inactivation by gastric acid
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250-500 mg 6 hourly
- Children dosage: 125-250 mg 6 hourly
- Infants dosage: 62.5-125 mg 6 hourly
Administration
- Best taken on an empty stomach
- Tablets swallowed without chewing
- Syrup shaken vigorously before use
Interaction
- Reduction in rate of absorption with concurrent food intake
- Potential drug interactions with methotrexate, bacteriostatic chemotherapeutics, probenecid, oral anticoagulants, and more
- Interference with laboratory and diagnostic tests
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to penicillins or any of the excipients
- Severe gastrointestinal disorders accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea

- Hypersensitivity reactions involving the skin
- Allergic reactions like drug fever, vasculitis, or interstitial nephritis
- Anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions
- Skin rashes or inflammation of mucous membranes

Precautions & Warnings
- Cross-allergy between cephalosporins and penicillins
- Consideration of potassium content in patients with heart diseases or serious electrolyte disturbances
- Risk of encephalopathy, particularly in case of overdose or renal impairment
- Checking the patient's condition at regular intervals
- Consideration of sugar content in patients with diabetes mellitus
