Indications

• Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria
• Treatment of infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci
• Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
• Treatment of respiratory tract, nasal, ear, and throat infections
• Sensitive and other bacterial infections
• Treatment of various skin infections such as boils, abscess, cellulitis, infected wounds, infected burns, etc.
• Treatment of pneumonia, lung abscess, empyema, sinusitis, tonsillitis, etc.
• Treatment of osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, septicemia, etc.

DosageAndAdministration

• Standard adult dose for oral consumption:
  • 500mg four times a day, half to one hour before meals
• Dosage for intramuscular injection:
  • 250mg every four to six hours
  • 500mg every four to six hours
  • 500mg once a day for plural cavity
  • 500mg once a day for joint cavity
• Standard pediatric dose for oral consumption:
  • Half of the adult dose for children aged 2 to 10 years
  • Quarter of the adult dose for children under 2 years
• Dosage for injection in muscles:
  • 250mg with 1.5ml of water for injection or 500mg with 2ml of water for injection, mixed and administered
  • 500mg with 5-10ml of water for injection, mixed and administered
  • 500mg with 5-10ml of water for injection, mixed and administered
  • 500mg with 5-10ml of water for injection or 0.5% lignocaine hydrochloride solution, administered

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillin

SideEffects

• Mild and transient side effects similar to other penicillins
• Common side effects include fever, diarrhea, indigestion, rash, urticaria or erythematous eruptions

PrecautionsAndWarnings

• Use with caution in patients with a history of allergies
• Not to be used as subconjunctival injection or eye drops
• Prepared syrup and drops should be kept in a cool place and used within five days at room temperature or within seven days if refrigerated
• Prepared injectable solution should be used within 30 minutes for intramuscular and intrathecal administration
• Injectable solution remains effective for up to 24 hours at normal room temperature (25°C)
